Artist:
- British multidisciplinary artist – born in UK in 1956
- Spent his teenage years working on a manual farm which sparked his interest in working outdoors
- He attended art school at Bradford College of Arts and Preston Polytechnic
- Photography plays an important part of Goldsworthy’s work as it proves the artwork existed.
- He began photo-documenting in the 70s as a way of proving to his lecturers he was doing art – this led to his practice outdoors.
- A lot of his works are sight specific ? not long lived – left to the environment
- He references pods and life cycles as these are a part of his life eg: The stonework came from the traditional stone work of the Scottish highlands
- Goldsworthy uses natural materials and tools in natural settings, – He respects this where only uses found tools in his works
