Essay:

Texts examine timeless human concerns but through different perspectives as they reflect the paradigms of contextual social attitudes. 

Through examining the contexts of different texts, we understand the perspectives and periodical influences on the author’s compositions. George Orwell’s 1949 novel, Nineteen Eighty-Four is a futuristic satire of an extreme socialist society in response to his experiences of fascism in Spain. On the other hand, Fritz Lang’s 1927 film, Metropolis, portrays a futuristic dystopia though an extravagant capitalist society. They showcase the Both texts comment upon societal, cultural and historical backgrounds of their composition, highlighting both similar and differing themes. 

Nineteen Eighty Four critiques the notion of totalitarian control in reflection of it’s contextual society structure.
