Title Page: Texts of literary value is a medium used to illuminate our understanding of what it means to be human. It allows readers to challenge assumptions, ignite news ideas and reflect personally with the individual and human experiences, presented in the text.
Slide One: “Nineteen Eighty-Four” by George Orwell explores the dangers a totalitarian government has on its citizens, where individual freedom is prohibited. The audience can become more conscious about their freedom to self-express and the power they have to choose their own experiences, through exploring the suppression of humanity
Slide Two: These themes are shared between various dystopian texts. Parallels can be established between the short story “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut which tells us about the tight control the government has over the citizens. By comparing the two dystopian texts, readers can see the world differently and understand the importance human experience has to help illuminate our understanding of what it means to be human.
