Resource Description
Summary:
Wild grapes is about a guy who is mourning over a girl who died and shares the same name as a type of grapes.
“Isabella grapes’’ – Symbolism – Creates an interchangeable relationship between Isabella and the Isabella grapes, in order to reveal to the reader how the narrator has had his perception of Isabella influenced by both his individual memory and his still remaining love for her. This further extends an invitation to the responder to reflect on their own personal memories and relationships.
“That in their harsh sweetness remind me somehow” – Oxymoron – Further adds to the interchangeable relationship between Isabella and the Isabella grapes. The effect of contradicting terms draws the reader’s attention to Isabella, and the way in which the narrator recalls the contrasting elements of Isabella’s personality, therefore linking the narrator’s memory to individual human experience.
