Chapter 1
1. He uses the word hope and dream a lot to exemplify the notion of the American dream. It also links to the hedonistic nature of that era as individuals were more hopeful for their own lives. He does this to reinforce the main theme in the novel about the American dream
2. Nick is a young man who was educated in Minnesota and was was educated at Tale. He moved to New York and comes from a middle-class backgrounds. He is also able to travel without the economic burden. His father tells him that if he hold men according to his own moral standards, he will misunderstand them. In terms of his judgement; he is some what an bystander but has thoughts about negative viewpoints about daisy and tom in reagards to their superficiality. He posses judgments about people in higher society.3. It is June 10th 1992 as Daisy notes that it “will be the longest day of the year”
4. Nick presents himself as a person of ambition and privealged background as discusses how he was viewed by his peers in college. People accused him of being political because he was agreeable. He does not see this as a strength. His faher told him that not everyone was born with the same amount of moral sense. He suggests that he maintains a hopeful view on people but admits he was lost his patients in his effort and thus hhe does not adhere to his father’s wisdom. He reflects on his naïve apsirations in the summer. He seems to be kind, judgement and that his story will be told from a justified point of view.
5. He describes Jordan as intriguring but beautiful. When nick sees her first she is very stiff and uptight. It is about her physical beauty as she is decibred as “slender and charming” as he admired her discontent and superiority in the situation. Nick connects with her because she is an outsider too. “I enjoyed looking at her”
6. Is attracted to her and finds her intriguing to some extent. Also as above…7. Tom seems to very proud. He is aggressive, domineering and loud. He is also very racist exemplifying his superficialist. He has an entitled and hateful personalty mostly cocnered with himself as he is very ignorant. He thinks white people are superior to black people. He compliments his own house “Ive got a nice place here”
