Introduction
Poetry offers readers a unique perspective into their spiritual connections to the world. Through the use of coherent form and textual elements, composers produce a text that transcends spatiotemporal constructions, therefore uniting the poetic world with philosophical ideas the responder faces. David Malouf’s oeuvre of poems ‘Earth Hour’ largely conveys the universal ideas of transience, the enriched connection that nature provides us with and death as a progressive element of humanity. He paints the world as a ‘double-edged sword’ wherein mankind can utilise such a tool for augmenting their lives or self-degradation. Through his poems ‘Earth Hour,” “Radiance” and “Towards Midnight”. Ultimately, through Malouf’s distinctive style, readers are motivated to reconsider their preconceived notions of the world, maintaining the essence of textual integrity within his composition.
