• • Chapter 1 – Totalitarianism – explores the evasive, all encompassing oppression of totalitarianism. It does it through the monitoring abuse, propagandising of language. Idea that language is being used to shape the truth. Idea of obfuscation of personal identity. This is reinforced in the Two Minutes of Hate – group mentality, personal identity stripped by group mentality. 
  • Chapter 2 – Truth – the exploration of truth being mutable, explored through memory and history. Big Brother rewrites history.
