Introduction to Notes;
Change is a complex process
● Change and progression is multilinear and complex, essentially meaning that societies and cultures can evolve in different paths or manners.
● Change is affected by many variables and forces, pressuring societies and cultures to adapt

● Change occurring from a certain level can have a butterfly effect and affect those on higher or lower levels

Evolutionary change
● It refers to gradual slow changes over long periods of time
● In the late 19th century when evolution became the predominant model for understanding biological change, ideas of social change took on an evolutionary cast, and evolution persists as an underlying principle
● Evolutionary theories are based on the assumption that societies gradually change from simple beginnings into even more complex forms
● This theory was influenced by Charles Darwin, creator of the theory of organic evolution and developer of the concept of gradualism.
