Malnutrition occurs when one of more nutrients are not supplied to body in correct amounts
Over nutrition: diet contains excess of one or more nutrients. Most commonly caused by higher energy intake
than usage, resulting in weight gain.
Under nutrition: diet lacks one more more nutrients
Conditions linked with over nutrition
OBESITY
Cause: energy intake higher than energy expenditure excess energy stored in body as adipose tissue
Overweight = 10-19% above ideal body weight.
Obese = 20% or more
