A.    Diet and health in Australia
 Physical effects and economic costs of malnutrition (under and over nutrition) and diet related disorders
Malnutrition occurs when one of more nutrients are not supplied to body in correct amounts
 Over nutrition: diet contains excess of one or more nutrients. Most commonly caused by higher energy intake
than usage, resulting in weight gain.
 Under nutrition: diet lacks one more more nutrients

Conditions linked with over nutrition

OBESITY

 Cause: energy intake higher than energy expenditure  excess energy stored in body as adipose tissue
 Overweight = 10-19% above ideal body weight.
 Obese = 20% or more
