Resource Description
1. How has the interaction between culture and authority changes over time in ONE country you have studied (9 marks)
Due to the power and authority upheld by the Chinese government, there have been significant changes to the family and population of the Chinese society. Due to the changes brought about by the Chinese Community Party (CCP), on a macro scale, there have been significant changes on the traditional culture of Chinese citizens. Modernisation in China has led the government to implement economic reforms and bureaucracy in an attempt to hinder the population growth of China. The One Child Policy was implemented by the CCP as a family planning strategy. Moreover, the government’s refurbishment of China, through the use of industrialisation and economic processes led to significant reforms in 1978. The ramifications of these changes have had significant effects on traditional Chinese family paradigms, primarily in regards to notions of; collectivism, filial piety, child bearing, and gender roles. The effects of these changes have had varying effects on the dilution of traditional Chinese culture.
