Maslow’s Hierarchy Of Needs:

  • Physiological needs: the basic human needs that one requires to stay alive
    • E.G. Air, food, water, sleep, procreation (off-springs)
  • Safety + security: things people need to feel safe and secure in life.
    • E.G. protection, safe environment, reduced fears + anxiety
  • Love: a sense of belonging & being loved by friends, family & community
    • Friends, family, community, companionship, belonging
  • Esteem: the feeling of self-respect or respect for/by others.
    • Freedom to do whatever with no restrictions
    • G. Having status within community, recognition, confidence & independence
  • Self-actualisation: a sense of completeness, acceptance & self-fulfilment.
    • Refers to the need for personal growth and development throughout one’s life
    • Once you are self-actualized, you’ve met your full potential as an individual.
    • Peace with ones self & ones place in the world
    • G. peace, morality, acceptance, creativity, problem solving, self-fulfilment, etc
