Received full marks. The essay question was : “Explain the way in which Amish society and culture is similar to, OR different from your own experiences”

The Amish society, predominantly located in rural Pennsylvania and Ohio, remains to be significantly different to my own experience of Australian society, as a result of differing gender roles and influences that shape identity. These differences are determined through gender and the application of gender roles in each society that members of both cultures comply with. The identity of adherents in both cultures is represented through their beliefs, morals and values and is constructed through influences such as religion and technology. I have identified these differences by examining my own experiences of Australian society as well as the experiences of Amish society and culture.
