Essay on the topic of Ruby Moon

Question: How could the personal and social tensions between characters in Ruby Moon be expressed on stage?

Intro: Contemporary Australian theatre and drama refers to Australian produced theatre that challenges the conventions, forms and styles of traditional theatre in order to engage the audience with social and personal concerns of the characters on stage. Matt Cameron’s Ruby Moon utilises these conventions to engage the audience with elements of Australian society such as the fear of child abduction, abuse, normality, issues of identity and idea of a perfect suburban lifestyle. Through the performance on stage, Matt Cameron allows the audience to question Australian society and their place within it.
