ABSTRACT
This report investigates the effect wave action exposure has on the abundance of rock platform organisms—conducted at Long Reef Rock Platform, Collaroy. Out of all species researched on the day, due to insufficient data, this report will only focus on two species: the Barnacles (Chthamalus antennatus) and Blue Periwinkles (Austrolittorina unifasciata). A quadrat-transect sampling technique was repeated thrice to produce results showing that distance from wave action is not as obvious an indicator as intertidal zones. That is, a strong correlation was found between the abundance of barnacles in upper littoral zones, and the abundance of Blue Periwinkle in supralittoral zones.
